DIY: Easy Halloween Treats

Happy Halloween everyone! I thought I would share an easy treat for the humans to enjoy while you open the door to hand out candy. I love anything edible that can double as decor or a centerpiece. These treats are very easy and take less than 15 minutes to whip up. The chocolate dipped marshmallows are a party staple of mine that can be put in any creative container help fill up a candy bar. At parties I prefer to wrap them in plastic individually with a bow, but since this project was for at home snacking we kept it simple.

Candy Corn Chocolate dipped Marshmallows
1 bag large sized marshmallows
1 pack of cake pop sticks
1 bag yellow Wilton chocolate melts
1 bag Wilton orange melts

For the marshmallows I always use the Wilton pre-packaged candy melts, because I find they are easier to work with and I like that I can just pop them in the microwave. First I prepare the marshmallows by sticking in the cake pop sticks (don't stick it all the way through the top). Then I find my tallest and largest mug and fill it with the entire chocolate melt package and proceed to follow the chocolate melting instructions. Do not overheat the chocolate! Then take the marshmallow on a stick and dip it 1/2 of the way into the chocolate. Swirl the stick to let the excess drip off and lean the marshmallow stick in a small mug so that the chocolate sets. After about 10 minutes they should be ready for the second dip of yellow chocolate. Using another mug, heat the yellow chocolate as per the instructions on the bag. Dip the marshmallow sticks 1/4 of the way in the yellow chocolate and set them back in a few mugs to dry.  If you have a cake pop holder, you can use that to keep them upright while drying.

Chocolate drizzled pretzel sticks
1 bag large pretzel sticks
1 bag of Wilton chocolate melts

These are ridiculously easy to make. I lay some parchment paper on the counter and spread out 10-12 pretzel sticks. I then melt the chocolate as per the directions on the package in a large mug. When the chocolate is melted I take a fork to drizzle the chocolate over the top half of the pretzels. Make sure you get some of the sides of the pretzels too. Let the chocolate dry and enjoy!

The Wilton chocolate melts comes in many flavors/colors to match any party decor. These are quick, easy, cheap and always make a nice visual impact. You can also wrap them up in individual plastic and give them as party favors.
